Abstract
The article is devoted to the theoretical comprehension of the concept category
within the modern humanitarian paradigm. The evolution of the concept from a logical term to a key
unit of cognitive linguistics, linguoculturology, and literary criticism is analyzed. The work aims to
systematize the main approaches to defining the concept (cognitive, cultural, linguo-mental) and to
identify its integrative role as a mediator between language, consciousness, and culture. The layered
structure of the concept (image, notional, and axiological components) and its function as an operative
unit of collective consciousness are substantiated. It is concluded that the concept acts as an
interdisciplinary tool necessary for reconstructing the worldview reflected in the language system and
literary text.
